Location: North Vancouver, BC
Area of modular portion of building: 3,120 sq. ft.
Number of building modules: 4
Features:
This two-storey daycare was designed to take advantage of the steep, sloping side with site-constructed lower floor and crawl space, and modular-constructed main floor above. The main floor is accessible directly from street level while the lower floor is also accessible from grade level.
Interior:
There are three distinct areas in the building that allow separation of children by age group, two on the main floor and one on the lower floor. Each floor has a "sunshine corner", multiple windows and a raised ceiling accentuated by coloured trim to provide a bright and positive learning environment.
Exterior:
The building exterior design and finished had to match an existing site structure and, as the building is in a high precipitation area, it was designed with the latest rainscreen technology to ensure dry, breathable walls and eliminate the prospect of mold and mildew.
